Our Library at Last!

Last Monday after new shelving, tables and books were placed in the library space we opened for business! The children were elated and loved entering the newly set up space. The chairs and tables were a real bonus and its now getting hard to get them off them! They will have to reorientate themselves as we have moved some of our areas but new signage will indicate to the children where they can access the books and other resources.

Already our breaks have become times when the library is full of children reading, sharing books with each other, playing board games or helping prepare our new resources for the library shelves. During our week of closure we had great help from three Year 6 boys who came daily to help with the preparation. We thank them and all the helpers especially our mums who come in daily to prepare resources for the children's use and to those who take resources home to prepare for us. We must now admit that our new shelves are groaning under the weight of all the books that were in cupboards and boxes but the children are devouring the quantity and quality of the material available to them.

We now look forward to even greater things happening in the library at lunchtimes and hope Fathers Paul and Stephen are enjoying their new church as much as we are enjoying our new library space.

Congratulations to everyone at Holy Cross. It is so great to hear about your 'new' library. Let's hope the shelves are always empty because the children and teachers are always reading the books on them!!!
